One of our primary goals at Furry Migration is to ensure an accessible and comfortable environment during all events for our physically disabled, mentally disabled, and neurodivergent attendees.
The Accessibility Desk is located on the first floor of the Hyatt, next to the Volunteer Desk, right by the Main Stage. This is where you can get an Accessibility and/or Deaf/deaf/HoH sticker for your badge. These stickers allow disabled attendees to use accessible seating, get priority in elevator lines, utilize our ASL interpreting services, and get extra help as needed from Furry Migration volunteers. For the best experience at Furry Migration, make the Accessibility Desk your first stop after you pick up your badge at registration.
All forms of disability are covered under our convention’s policies. There is no minimum qualification for services, nor is any proof of need required. Our Accessibility services are made available to any disabled person who feels that our services would make their convention experience better.
First, visit us at the Accessibility Desk to request an Accessibility sticker for your badge. You can place this on the front or back of your badge, whichever you prefer. The sticker does not need to remain visible at all times.
Then, when you need assistance, show the sticker on your badge to any Furry Migration staffer. Accessibility stickers are yellow with the international handicapped logo stamped on them.
Unlike some larger conventions, Furry Migration doesn’t have any formal line management in place for elevators, panels, and other seated events.
We ask all attendees of Furry Migration to kindly give priority elevator access to fursuiters and individuals using mobility devices or service animals. Signs are posted at elevators to remind attendees of this policy.
If you have difficulty standing in line while waiting for an elevator, panel or event, please ask any nearby volunteer for a chair.
We have specially-marked reserved seats in all our panel rooms and at the Main Stage for attendees requiring accessibility accommodations, as well as wheelchair and power chair parking spaces, which are marked with yellow tape. You can find these seats located near the front or along the aisles for easy access, marked with blue Reserved chair covers.
We have ASL interpreters available during the convention to assist with our Deaf/deaf/HoH attendees. We utilize interpreters for Main Stage events such as Opening and Closing Ceremonies, and upon request can interpret for certain panels and at meetups. Attendees who would like assistance from our interpreters will receive a magenta sticker with the international Deaf/deaf/HoH logo on it for their badge.
To request an interpreter for a specific panel or meetup, please email accessibility@furrymigration.org before the convention.
In partnership with MNeurodivergent, we will be providing a designated Quiet Space for staff and attendees to relax, rest, and recharge in a low-sensory, neuro-friendly environment. Our Quiet Space is located in Hennepin on the second floor next to Con Ops. Please follow convention and Quiet Space rules at all times when in the Quiet Space.
Service animals are welcome at Furry Migration. In compliance with ADA law, service animals must be dogs or miniature horses who are trained to perform a task or tasks to mitigate their handler’s disability. No pre-registration, certification, or identification is required of any service animal. Any animal which violates convention rules, causes a health or safety hazard, or otherwise acts as a severe nuisance may be asked to leave, along with its handler.
