Room & Ride Share

Check out the MNfurs forums – a great place to find a room and/or ride share or find a couple extra friends to help with the costs!

Flying

Once you’ve landed at MSP, you’re going to need to get to the hotel.

Metro Transit Blue Line

Ride from Humphrey/Lindbergh Terminal to Nicollet Mall Station. Trains run every 10-15 minutes. There is no service between 1am and 5am. Fares range from $1.75 during normal periods to $2.25 at rush hour.

From the Nicollet Mall Station it is a 10-15 minute walk to the hotel. Regular bus service is also available at a reduced downtown rate; visit the Metro Transit website for schedule information and use “Nicollet Mall Station” and “Hyatt Regency Minneapolis” as your waypoints.

Downtown

First and foremost, Furry Migration is designed to a pedestrian-friendly convention. There are dozens of food and shopping option within a short distance.

Walking

This is where we’d normally rave about the beauty of Nicollet Mall. However, there’s (still) a lot of construction happening out there. It’s not pretty but still very useable, and walking continues to be the best way to get around.

Metro Transit Buses

Metro Transit’s Downtown Zone is inexpensive travel without the footwork. It’s a bus or train ride for a fraction of the normal fare! You can reach most downtown stores, restaurants and businesses on the Downtown Zone fare, which is $.50 at all times.

Simply tell the driver before you pay your fare that you will be riding only within the Downtown Zone to avoid paying the normal fare. If you ride outside the zone, the driver will ask you to pay the added fare. Transfers are not available with Downtown Zone fares.

Nice Ride Bike Share

Nice Ride offers conveniently-located bike stations that allow you to “check out” a bike, ride it, and return it either to the original location or any of their many other stations.

Single rentals can be purchased by swiping a card at any station. The cost is $4 per 1/2 hour from the time the bike leaves the station until it is returned. Up to 4 bikes can be rented at one time on a single card.

3-Day passes can be purchased at any Nice Ride station. A pass gives you unlimited rides up to 30 minutes in length with no additional costs. Rides lasting over 30 minutes will be billed usage fees of $4 per additional 30 minutes. Each time you return a bike to a station you reset the clock and get another 30 minutes with no fees. Up to 4 passes can be purchased at one time on a single card.
